Band
Our Rock Band Program gives students the exciting opportunity to experience what it's like to play in a real band. Students work together in a small group setting, learning popular songs while developing essential musical skills such as listening, timing, teamwork, stage presence, and improvisation.
Band members learn how their individual parts fit into the larger musical picture, helping them become stronger and more confident musicians. Rehearsals focus on ensemble playing, communication, and performance preparation, while encouraging creativity and collaboration among students.
The program is open to students of all levels (complete beginner to advanced) who play guitar, bass, drums, piano/keyboard, or sing. Groups are formed based on age, experience level, and musical interests to ensure a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Bands rehearse once per week for one hour under the guidance of their coach. Throughout each term, students work together to learn and refine their songs, develop their performance skills, and build confidence as an ensemble. At the end of each term, every band performs at a student showcase, giving musicians the opportunity to experience performing live in front of an audience and celebrate the progress they have made.
The program is coached by Everett Mason, the Music Director of the school. Everett is a graduate of the renowned Humber College Jazz Program and has been an active performer in the local music scene for more than 20 years. His original band has shared the stage with well-known acts such as Finger Eleven, Sumo Cyco, Blaze Bayley performing material associated with Iron Maiden, Sven Gali, and Warrior Soul, among others.
In addition to his performance experience, Everett has spent over two decades teaching music lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. His combination of formal musical training, extensive teaching experience, and real-world performance background provides students with a unique opportunity to learn both the technical and collaborative skills needed to succeed in a band setting.
Whether a student dreams of playing on stage, joining a band with friends, or simply wants to make music in a fun and supportive environment, our Rock Band Program is a fantastic way to build confidence, musicianship, and lasting friendships.
